Galactic Pinball on Wikipedia
Galactic Pinball is a 1995 pinball video game developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the Virtual Boy. The game was released on July 21, 1995 in Japan and on August 14, 1995 in the United States. It is one of five launch games for the Virtual Boy, along with Mario's Tennis, Red Alarm, Teleroboxer, and Panic Bomber. In the game, which is set in the Milky Way galaxy, players maneuver a puck around one of four pinball tables available in the game. The Virtual Boy's standard red-and-black color scheme resulted in criticism of this and other games on the platform for causing nausea, headaches, and eye strain. It uses parallax, which allows the game to display three-dimensional effects. It has received a mixed reception; it was praised for its authenticity, while reception to its physics and controls were mixed. It has received criticism for its lack of ambition and originality.

The best low-cost game on the platform, and the one to test a headset with.
Intelligent Systems — the Fire Emblem and Advance Wars studio — building four pinball tables for a red LED display, and it is much better than that sounds. Pinball is the right genre for this hardware: a fixed table with real depth, no scrolling, no navigation, no motion sickness. It is the one Virtual Boy game you can play for forty minutes without your eyes complaining.
Practical tip: its bright, high-contrast, mostly-static tables make display faults immediately visible, which makes it the ideal cart to inspect a unit with before you buy.

| Electronic Gaming Monthly #75 | October 1995 | 6.3/10 |
| Weekly Famicom Tsūshin #347 | 1995 | 24/40 |

One of only four Virtual Boy games Electronic Gaming Monthly ever reviewed. Middling scores, but it placed in all seven of Nintendo Power's reader-voted Virtual Boy charts — no other title managed that.
Before you buy
Low counterfeit risk. This cart saves to battery-backed SRAM on a soldered CR1616 cell that is now over thirty years old; if saves vanish at power-off that is the battery, not the game. A Japanese demonstration version exists for variant collectors.
