When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and password. You may optionally provide a display name, bio, and profile photo.

When you buy or sell items, we collect information about the transaction including item details, prices, shipping addresses, and tracking information. Payment card details are collected and processed by Stripe — we do not store your full card number.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide our services — Operate the marketplace, process transactions, facilitate shipping, and enable communication between buyers and sellers
  • Manage accounts — Create and maintain your account, verify your identity, and process seller onboarding
  • Send notifications — Notify you about orders, offers, messages, and other account activity

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following circumstances:

With other users

Your public profile information (username, avatar, bio, ratings) is visible to other users. When you complete a transaction, the buyer and seller exchange necessary information (shipping address, order details). Messages between users are visible only to the participants of that conversation.

With Stripe

We share transaction and account information with Stripe to process payments, verify seller identities, and comply with financial regulations. Stripe's use of your information is governed by their Privacy Policy.

With service providers

We share information with the following service providers who help us operate the Platform:

  • Supabase — Database hosting and user authentication
  • Vercel — Website hosting and serverless infrastructure
  • SendGrid (Twilio) — Transactional email delivery
  • Stripe — Payment processing and seller payouts

These providers are contractually required to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us.

For legal reasons

We may disclose your information if required by law, in response to a valid legal process (e.g., subpoena or court order), or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of The Game Traders, our users, or the public.

5. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Essential cookies — Keep you signed in and remember your preferences. These are necessary for the Platform to function.
  • Authentication tokens — Securely manage your session through Supabase Auth.
  • Analytics — Understand how users interact with the Platform to improve our services.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking for targeted advertising. Most browsers allow you to manage cookie preferences. Disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the Platform from functioning properly.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
  • Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
  • Payment information is processed and stored by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified provider
