About Iron Soldier
The player controls a robot spanning 42 feet or 13 metres in a series of 16 missions consisting of destroying certain enemies and buildings. Some missions require the player to obtain new weapons from an enemy base or destroy other robots. The player has a wide variety of weapons like rocket launchers, a chainsaw, gatling gun, shield, and self-controlled rockets, which can be equipped on any part of the robot. The gaming media reported that Iron Soldier would support two-player gaming via the Jaguar's dial-up internet link;[1] however, the Jaguar internet link was never completed or released, so Iron Soldier was released as a single-player game only.

A mech game that actually feels like sixty feet of walking mass — and the connoisseur pick of the platform.
Eclipse built something that moves like weight: the mech is slow, turning takes time, momentum is real. The hook is destruction — buildings collapse, bridges come down, and several missions are solved by knocking a structure over rather than shooting what's on top of it. Flat-shaded and untextured, and it looks deliberate rather than cheap; the aesthetic serves the industrial subject. The first hour feels sluggish until the weight becomes the appeal. Stick with it through mission four.
It's the third leg of the "the Jaguar had good games" argument alongside Tempest 2000 and Alien vs. Predator, and it produced the platform's only real franchise: Iron Soldier 2 in 1997 and Iron Soldier 3 on PlayStation and N64.
Before you buy
Common and inexpensive with no counterfeit concern — the collector target is Iron Soldier 2, where the format matters enormously: the CD and the scarce December 1997 cartridge are the same game trading in completely different markets. Never price one off the other (see the Iron Soldier 2 page).
