The platform's best-kept secret, and one of the games you still need the hardware to play.
One of the highest-rated games on the system, barely played outside Japan, and not on Nintendo Switch Online — its publisher, Coconuts Japan, no longer exists to license it. It is a first-person paddle game, closer to 3D breakout than squash, and one of the purest demonstrations of what the display was good at: judging depth on a fast object coming straight at you. Flat, it's forgettable; in the headset, it works.
With no re-release in sight, its scarcity is the permanent kind — the sort that Jack Bros. and Virtual Bowling just lost.
What the press said at the time
| Weekly Famicom Tsūshin #355 | 1995 | 20/40 |
| VB Memorial Guidebook | 1997 | 20.5/100 |
Famitsu's panel gave 4/6/6/4. Its North American release was scheduled for August 1995 and cancelled, which is why almost no Western magazine covered it.
Before you buy
Japanese text, but there is nothing to read in a paddle game. Medium risk: expensive enough to be worth faking, obscure enough that buyers don't know a genuine label. Compare against Planet Virtual Boy's box scans before committing.
