The intergalactic gremlin ninja Zool returns, and this time his enemies in the game were named Krool and his assistant Mental Block, whose goal is to stifle the world's imagination, causing rampant boredom. Zool was the Amiga's answer to Sonic, and Zool 2 refined it — dense, colorful, fast, with two playable characters, and sprawling collectible-padded levels built on repetition. By 1994 the mascot boom was ending and Zool was a nostalgia act.

Its real significance is categorical: Zool 2 belongs to the Jaguar's largest and least-discussed group — competent ports of Amiga and PC games from one to three years earlier (Cannon Fodder, Syndicate, Theme Park, Flashback, Pinball Fantasies…). Atari couldn't fund original development, so a console sold on being the most powerful thing available mostly ran software built for weaker machines.
