Brutal Sports Football is a 1993 sports video game developed by Teque London and originally published by Millennium Interactive for the Amiga. It was re-published for MS-DOS and Amiga CD32, and later became the first third-party title published for the Atari Jaguar. The first entry in the Brutal Sports series, the game is a fictional style of football played against human or computer-controlled opponents. It features a different take on american football by emphasising the violent aspect of the sport.

Nine months after launch, Telegames became the first outside publisher on the platform with this — and went on to be the last company publishing for it, still shipping cartridges into 1998. First in and last out. The game is American football with no rules worth mentioning: you can decapitate opposing players, and it's a legitimate strategy. Closer to Speedball 2 than Madden, unsurprising given the Amiga heritage, and better as a two-player couch game than a campaign.

Before you buy

Common and inexpensive. Early Telegames packaging differs from Atari-published carts — useful for spotting era at a glance. Richard Joseph's soundtrack is a genuine bonus.
