A colourful Norse platformer, catalogued under two different names — check which you are buying.
Imagitec Design developed it and Atari published the Lynx version in 1991: a bright, cartoonish action-platformer in which the hero sets out with a dagger and a grudge against the god who abducted his family. It is one of the better-looking games in the library.
It is also one of the more disappointing, and period reviewers said so — VideoGames & Computer Entertainment called it “a good example of a solid idea that somehow got saddled with all the wrong play mechanics”, noting that such an evocative title had them expecting considerably more. Databases file it as Prophecy I: The Viking Child while cartridges and listings mostly say Viking Child, which matters when searching. Never re-released.
Before you buy
Cheap and low-risk. The two-name problem is the main practical trap; prices track the shorter name.
