A 1991 conversion of the Atari Games arcade tube-shooter, pitched at the time on one number: roughly 700 miles per hour through 3D tunnels of unpredictable twists, shooting the opposition out of the way as you go. The Lynx’s hardware distortion and scaling are doing exactly the work they were designed for, and the sense of speed survives the shrink better than it had any right to.

Cheap, common, and never re-released — so the cartridge is still the only way to play this version.

Before you buy

Low risk and a narrow loose-to-complete spread. One of the titles worth having loose in the bag simply because it demonstrates the hardware to anyone who asks what a Lynx was for.
