About PlayStation 5 Pro
The PlayStation 5 (PS5) is a home video game console developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment as the fifth iteration of their PlayStation brand. It was announced as the successor to the PlayStation 4 in April 2019, and was launched in Australia, Japan, New Zealand, North America, and South Korea on November 12, 2020, and worldwide a week later. The PS5 is part of the ninth generation of video game consoles, along with Microsoft's Xbox Series X/S consoles, which were released the same month.

- PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) — AI-driven upscaling, Sony's answer to DLSS/FSR
- Advanced ray tracing (2-3x faster)

- Game Boost / PS4 Pro Boost-style enhancements for older titles

- price: $499 PS5 → $699 USD launch (no disc drive included, no stand) — most expensive PlayStation launch ever
- marketing: Standard 4K → '8K-ready' (criticized as misleading — no 8K games shipping)

Reception & legacy
Strong but supply-constrained — sold out for nearly two years due to global semiconductor shortage and scalper activity; reviews praised SSD load times and DualSense haptics
$699 launch price with no included disc drive and no stand was widely panned — total cost-to-equivalent of base PS5 disc + Pro stand approached $830; '8K' marketing criticized as misleading; PSSR launch titles showed visible artifacts in some games (Silent Hill 2, Jedi Survivor) — Sony issued patches
Defined the SSD-as-design-feature generation (instant load times, streaming-from-disk architecture); DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers became the most-imitated controller innovations in years; Astro Bot's 2024 success revived the platformer-as-flagship template
