About Nintendo Switch 2
The Nintendo Switch 2 is a video game console developed by Nintendo and released in most regions on June 5, 2025. Like the original Nintendo Switch, it can be used as a handheld, as a tablet, or connected via the dock to an external display. The Joy-Con 2 controllers can be used while magnetically attached or detached from the console. Compared to the original Switch, the Switch 2 has a larger liquid-crystal display (LCD), more internal storage, and updated graphics, controllers, and social features. It supports 1080p resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate in handheld or tabletop mode, and 4K resolution with a 60 Hz refresh rate when docked, as well as HDR support on both the tablet and compatible external displays.

Region-dependent — JP launch bundle included Switch 2 Welcome Tour; NA/EU launch did not bundle a game by default; Mario Kart World bundle was the most popular SKU
Mario Kart World · Donkey Kong Bananza · The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 Edition · Breath of the Wild Switch 2 Edition · Metroid Prime 4 Beyond (announced cross-gen) · Pokemon Legends Z-A (cross-gen) · Drag x Drive · Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour
Still in production (launched June 2025; library actively expanding as of 2026 — limited data)
Limited data — too new to establish collectible market; Welcome Tour sealed copies and JP launch-day SKUs likely the early collector targets

Reception & legacy
Strong — sold-out launch worldwide; mostly positive reviews praising performance leap, magnetic Joy-Con 2, and backward compatibility; criticized for $449 USD launch price (highest Nintendo launch price ever) and high first-party software pricing ($80 for Mario Kart World in NA)
Game pricing controversy — Mario Kart World at $80 USD set a new ceiling and was widely debated; Game-Key Card format (cartridges that require a download) frustrated collectors; scalper-driven shortages persisted through late 2025
Successor to the best-selling Nintendo home console of all time; first true generational successor (rather than refresh) since the Wii U; magnetic Joy-Con 2 and mouse mode positioned as the platform's signature innovations
